Dr. Katherine Crafton is a gentle, caring, and highly experienced chiropractor. She is one of only 300 Board Certified Atlas Orthogonists worldwide. This special technique does not utilize any manual manipulation (no "cracking or popping") by stressing the joint in rotation. The procedure is safe, effective, and gentle.
She is the attending physician of record for all chiropractic patients in the clinic. She maintains an active Alabama, Mississippi, and Michigan license and is the CEO of the small corporation.
Dr. Katherine was born in Gadsden, Alabama. She received her education at the University of Michigan and the Life Science Institute in Natural Hygiene. She is a member of the American Neutriceutical Association and has trained associates in ethical practices in the distribution of health care supplements.
She graduated from Sherman College of Straight Chiropractic earning her Doctor of Chiropractic degree. She also received a post doctoral degree as a Board Certified Atlas Orthogonist, a degree granted program and a highly specialized upper cervical adjustment using stereotactic x-rays and a precision percussive wave force instrument making a highly specific low force brain stem adjustment. She worked closely with Dr. Roy Sweat of Atlanta, the founder of the technique, and with Dr. G. Stanford Pierce, the founder of Advanced Orthogonal, in St. Petersburg, Fl.
She maintains a 3500 sq. ft. state of art clinic in Mobile , Al.. This facility is in close proximity to the beautiful campus of the University of South Alabama.
Dr. Katherine is one of a few Atlas Orthogonists or by that matter any physician who has experience in the diagnosis and treatment of Cerebellar Tonsillar Ectopia, a trauma induced variant of Chiari malformation syndrome, identified only by a weight bearing motion MRI, a new and amazing diagnostic tool for showing injury and compression of neural and ligamentous tissue that can only be identified in postures other than the typical supine static MRI.
She receives many referrals from physicians and dentists because of the unique nature of her specialty and the safety of the procedures associated with instrument adjustments. She has worked closely with Las Vegas Institute trained dentists who specialize in TMJ, since the technique is part of their protocol.
Dr. Crafton's clinic is specialized in the SCALE methods of treatment for cervical trauma following personal injurv and auto collisions. SCALE (Stereotactic Cervical Alignment) is the first chiropractic technique to be published in a medical journal,
The Journal of Whiplash and Related Disorders., Vol. 5 n 1, 2006. Drs. Crafton both completed the highly recognized programs held by Dr. Arthur Croft at the Spine Institute of San Diego in the management and treatment of auto collisions. Few in Alabama have these credentials in the handling of auto cases.
Dr. Crafton's first commitment was to nutrition, having practiced as a nutritionist for the last 25 years. Her philosophy of nutrition is scriptural and based on whole functional foods, the importance of raw enzyme rich foods, and truly natural based supplementation. She has worked closely with Hallelujah Acres health ministers who have a similar natural health approach. Its founder, Dr. Malkamus,
Why Christians Get Sick, received a similar education as a natural hygienist. This would be true of Dr. Harvey Diamond, who wrote the best seller, Fit for Life. Similarly, Dr. Lorraine Day, a medical doctor and natural hygienist, received notoriety for You Can't Improve On God, after ridding herself of a life threatening condition, as did Dr. Malkamus.
Dr. Crafton will be quick to tell you that as a chiropractor and natural health care provider, she
does not diagnose and treat disease. A natural health approach rids the body of toxins, feeds the body nutrients, and restores internal communication so the body can heal itself. She says, "Unlike medical treatments, with a natural approach or chiropractic treatment, what is good for a sick person just happens to be what is good for a person who does not believe or know that they are sick, or for that matter, a rare healthy person. Do you not see the irony?"
Dr. Crafton is a member of the Orthomolecular Medical Association founded by the late Dr. Linus Pauling who won the Nobel Prize. She is also an affiliate with the T. Colin Campbell Foundation, founded by the author of The China Study. These organizations attest to the important relationship between diet and health, the discovery made by these world premier researchers. She also knew the late Dr. Hal Huggins DDS who challenged the dental community on negative finding of toxins and infections in his search for underlying dental conditions contributing to ones overall health. Dr. Huggins was the world's most famous advocate and expert on these conditions, many of which are a result of these well documented toxic dental practices. She is also a member of the International Natural Hygiene Society.
Studies in the new science of Psychoneuroimmunology have positioned the importance of communication within the body to maintain health; this only confirms what upper cervical chiropractor have known for years.
Dr. Crafton has been a guest speaker at numerous conventions. She and her husband, Dr. Scott Crafton, were featured in
Breakthroughs in Health magazine toting the efficacy of functional beverages pointing out the science behind their role in nature. She was the featured speaker on the CD for this issue.
"Most people still cannot imagine the importance and effectiveness of functional foods and herbals in health care. More articles appear everyday in scientifically driven periodicals focusing on foods that influence our body's ability to internally communicate and activate enzyme activity, necessary for survival. Only naturally grown phytochemicals have the ability to modulate the body responses for survival and vitality. People cannot accept that the answers to many health problems are right in front of them. Science is far ahead of medicine in making discoveries that could positively influence the nation's health. This is why it is imperative that the consumer has choices."
My mission is to educate and empower the individual into taking control over their health.
